Willamette Valley

Map of Willamette Valley

Country, county, and city lines have historically disregarded natural features of the landscape, and moving toward a bioregional understanding of place requires us to shift toward thinking about defining an area based on the movement of the watershed, geographic history, and culture of a place. For this reason, we refer to our ecoregion as Willamette Valley, named for the river that is our lifeblood.

Willamette River is one of the few rivers that runs south to north, joining the "Columbia" River before moving onto the ocean.
