Community care refers to the collective practices and systems through which individuals and groups support one another's emotional, physical and social well-being. Rooted in principles of mutual aid, solidarity and interconnectedness, it emphasizes shared responsibility and direct action to meet needs, especially in the absence or insufficiency of institutional or governmental support. Community care can take many forms, including providing resources, offering emotional support, organizing for justice and creating spaces where everyone feels seen, valued and empowered.
